If you enjoy active holidays and like being in the 'great outdoors', then La Clusaz and it's fabulous mountains, really is the place to stay. Stunning scenery, sweet clean air and high temperatures in the spring, summer and autumn. La Clusaz is the best kept sceret amongst the Swiss and French for walkers and mountain trekkers, so it's not overcrowded. During the months of June to September, you will also find welcoming mountain refuges on some of the high altitude routes, which offer mainly regional home cooked dishes, and provide a perfect mid-way stopping point for a hearty lunches after a good morning walk.

Some of the refuges also offer evening accommodation, so if you fancy something out of the ordinary and want to stay on the mountain and complete a two or more day hike, a truly unique experience.

A panoramic walk from the chalet -
Tete du Dannay

Lac des Confins via Tete de Danay, finishing back at the chalet.Views:Stunning panoramic views from the top of Tete de Danay (1731m), Tournette, Le Grand Bornand, Tete des Annes and the Aravis Chain, La Clusaz Beauregard, Etale. Duration: full route - 3/4hrs 10 kms. Difficulty: Steep uphill climb of 770m to Tete de Danay.

The first part is the toughest with a slow steady climb starting at La Plattuy 300m from the chalet, for nearly 700m to La Tete du Danay. The route is well sign posted for the Tete du Danay on and crosses the 'Belier trail' through the bois du Rosay. Fortunately most of the walk is through shaded woods so it’s ideal for hot days. Often this route is littered with lilly of the valley in the spring, wild strawberries in the summer, and fungi in the Autumn. Once at the top of Danay soak up the panoramic views of la Tournette, Le Grand Bornand, Col des Anne and of course the Aravis range! Return downhill in the direction of Lac des Confin towards the wooden chalet at Sur Frete. You can buy reblechon here in the summer. At Confin there is a small chapel, cluster of shops and restaurants. An ideal place for lunch. The Foly and Chalet du lac restaurants are particularily good. Otherwise take a picnic to eat by the lake. In May you will be rewarded by the sight of wild crocuses and fogs in the lake. Then it's an easier stroll down the road to the chalet.
