La Clusaz summer events 2010

La Clusaz is a fantastic destination for the summer months, frequently hitting the high 30's. This year there have been lots of summer events organised in the town, not to mention all that the great outdoor activities on offer.

Stunning scenery, fantastic walks both in the fields and on the high mountains, challenging downhill and gentle cross country mountain biking courses through lush pastures and forests, as well as fresh mountain lakes to swim, canoe, kayak or sail in.

7-11th July - Jump La Clusaz, this summer La Clusaz is organising 4 days of high level horse racing with no less than 700 riders already signed up, including some French Team members! The 2010 Jumping de La Clusaz already looks set to become one of the major sporting events of the year.

13th July - Tour de France, this year it comes through the town, followed by fireworks.

14-17th July - The family mountain festival set in 4 villages, over 4 days and evenings. The great outdoors is transformed into an unusual playground with four themes: cycle, ropes, nature attitude and air.Every afternoon and evening, activities and mountain sports are on offer in the heart of the four Aravis resorts.This years themes are: La Clusaz: cycle, Le Grand-Bornand: ropes, Manigod: nature, and Saint-Jean-de-Sixt: air.

24th July - Moonlight walk, on this summer evening the full moon lights up the starry sky, whilst the gentle flicker of thousands of candles lights up the village. Musicians tune their instruments and street entertainers make the final touches to their costume… everything’s ready for one magical evening walk in the moonlight. 

7-8 th August - Village festival, a week-end of games, entertainment, activities and shows especially aimed at children. Throughout the two days you will discover traditional dances while enjoying the giant tartiflette (local cheese and potato speciality) and wandering through the stands. In the evening soak up the atmosphere of the village dance with music, refreshments.

15th August - Reblochon festival, a parade of floats, re-enacted scenes through "tableaux vivants", activities, bread making, and folk dances...a day to celebrate our craftsmen and farmers and our famous Reblochon cheese, made late in the afternoon in a huge copper cauldron and eaten freshly molded. Almost 10 000 spectators come every year to the green pastures of the Bossonnet to recapture some of the spirit of the olden days and to taste many Savoyard specialties.

29th August - Bélier des Aravis, a running and hiking race set in the scene of a life-sized picture postcard which is 27 km long race is with a vertical climb of 1000m over the alpine trails surrounding the village.  

Beauregard gondola - For hikers and mountain bikers.
This gondola offers access to the Beauregard plateau (1 650 metres) and the La Ferriaz downhill tracks.It also offers some fantastic walking routes and panoramic views over the Aravis mountain range. Open from 25/06 to 05/09 open daily (Daily from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm, and during the week-ends of 12th-13th June, 19th-20th June and 11th-12th September 2010. Price per ascent - Adult: 6.70 euros, Child: 4.30 euros.

Cret du Merle chairlift - For hikers, mountain bikers and paragliders, provides access to the Grenêche mountain biking downhill course.
Open from: 26/06 to 01/09 daily from 9:30 am to 5:15 pm, price per ascent: adults: 4.80 euros, Children: 3.30 euros.

Cret du Loup - For hikers, mountain bikers and paragliders and access to the Crêt du Loup mountain biking downhill trail.
Open from: 26/06 to 01/09 daily from 9:40 am to 5:00 pm, price per ascent, Adults: 4.80 euros, Children: 3.30 euros or access for both the Crêt du Merle and Crêt du Loup chair lifts, Adults: 6.70 euros, Children: 4.30 euros.
